The Avionics subteam is responsible for the rocket’s full hardware and software design/implementation. Some of our major projects include the flight controller PCB, payload electronics, recovery bay wiring, battery integration, ground station systems, and experimental telemetry and RF designs.

The overall objective for Avionics this year is to continue progressing efforts towards the development of our long-range telemetry, flight control software, and ground station. Rocketry has come a long way in the past few years. From using off-the-shelf hardware and basic levels of programming to fully custom hardware designs and complex embedded systems. The motto this year is to “test early and often”, for we strive to make the critical mistakes in the lab before we throw them in the rocket. Members will gain invaluable experience designing real aerospace hardware and software in ways that can’t be learned in the classroom.
